Our Ensembles

  • Sonoro Women's Choir

Our principal chorus, the Sonoro Women’s Choir (SWC), was originally founded in 2007 as a mixed choir but was reorganized as a women’s choir in 2011. Since then, the SWC has blossomed from a small group of non-auditioned singers to a vetted chorus of approximately 40 high-caliber musicians

The SWC performs a wide range of choral literature – from large works such as Johannes Brahms’ Vier Gesange fur Frauenchor and Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, to cutting-edge contemporary pieces by Ola Gjeilo and Abbie Betinis, to popular show tunes, Christmas carols, and much more.

The SWC has become known within the Pacific Northwest music community for its artistic expression, exceptional blend and vocal range, memorized performances, and striking blue dresses.

Auditions are held before each season in January and July. We invite you to join us as either a choral member or an audience member – you will not be disappointed!

  • Elysium

Elysium was founded in 2018 as a first-class acapella women’s ensemble designed for more modern ensemble music. The group specializes in high-caliber, community-focused performances and is known for their diverse literature and spectacular vocal blend.

Elysium particularly enjoys performing works by artists/groups GQ, Pentatonix, the Wailin’ Jennys, Red Letter Daze, BYU Noteworthy, Sara Barielles, and more. Elysium typically performs a short set in each spring and winter Sonoro Choral Society concert series and can also be seen out in the community or headlining a concert of their own.

The members were auditioned out of the Sonoro Women’s Choir and the group is available for hire. Elysium’s prepared repertoire is well suited for community/commercial events, festivals, weddings, memorials, etc., and they can provide both spotlight performances and ambient music. • Sonoro Chamber Orchestra

The Sonoro Chamber Orchestra serves as the orchestral heartbeat of Sonoro’s larger choral projects, offering refined, professional-level accompaniment that adapts to works both grand and intimate.

In its current role, the orchestra supports major choral masterworks like Fauré’s Requiem, while also performing in compact configurations for pieces such as Holst’s Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda or Conrad Susa’s Carols and Lullabies. Though its current focus is accompaniment, the ensemble aspires toward independent concerts in future seasons.

The orchestra is drawn from top-tier regional musicians—freelancers, symphony players, university faculty, and chamber artists—who bring rigorous musicianship, collaborative responsiveness, and expressive nuance to every performance.

Together, the Sonoro Chamber Orchestra and its choral counterparts present unified performances that blend instrumental finesse with vocal artistry, always striving for musical depth, clarity, and a seamless union of voices and strings.
